Brian Stout is a lifelong resident of Southern Illinois and firmly believes in its potential. He is running to stand up for areas of our state that have long been neglected by our government due to failing, out-of-touch leadership.

As a small business owner and local elected official, Brian has seen firsthand how middle-class families are struggling to get ahead and he knows what it takes to put Southern Illinois back on the map. As the next state senator for the 54th district,  Brian will focus on creating good-paying jobs, increasing funding for education, and investing in rebuilding our local infrastructure.

Brian started his own insurance adjustment company at age 25, which eventually grew to 22 locations before selling it to a few employees. He now works as an adjuster for a national firm that handles large-loss claims for natural disasters and was elected President of the Vandalia Park District and Airport.

Brian is an avid learner who worked full-time while earning an associate’s degree from Kaskaskia College and a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. Earlier this year, Brian earned his MBA from Greenville University.

As an active member of the community, Brian is the president of his local Rotary Club chapter and conducts several charity auctions each year. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the “Old Capital Foundation,” and as Precinct Committeeman of the Vandalia Democratic Party, Vice President of Friend & Family of Fayette County Hospital and Board Member for the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce.

Brian lives in Vandalia, Illinois with his wife, Chelsea, and their three daughters.
